ur style INTERNATIONAL… helsinki styles… 4th day: all sightseeing…or styleseeing ; )

In ur style INTERNATIONAL on 9. August 2010 at 15:25

Hei!
Here is the next update from my 4th day in Helsinki…

I did a little sightseeing and went to Soumenlinna, that is an old sea fortress near Helsinki. I was going by boat and we had great weather…

It was really nice to chill out there…and of course my style-o-meter was working still…
so I catched this nice couple…

Peppi Polivander from Helsinki is studying to be an actress and her boyfriend Oliver Dykes is attendig art school in England.

So today I showed you why Helsinki not only seems to be a real nice place to go shopping and styleseeing ; ) but also to chill out.
For the whole trip I have to thank my boys Andi and Chris (that helped me carrying the bags ; )) and my finnish friends Juha, Ville, Opah, Christer and Olli and Janni. It was nice of you to show us around (special thanks to Juha for driving) and taking us out partying.
You can be sure that I come to Helsinki again…and check out the finnish life and style…

ur style INTERNATIONAL… helsinki styles… 3rd day: all into finnish style

In ur style INTERNATIONAL on 9. August 2010 at 15:20

Hei!
Unfortunately the Internet connection on Saturday and Sunday wasn’t very good. So here is my update for the last two days…

On Saturday, I went to UFF second hand store. I think it’s the biggest and best organised one I ever was!

The finnish are really into individual style, combined with vintage and second hand or hand-made clothes….
So look at this young lady…

At the moment Riika (20) is working at a food boutique and still thinking over what to study. But it is obviously that it has to be something with fashion…her skirt is made by herself.

I asked her what is the really extraordinary thing about finnish style…?
She answered me that she thinks it has to be the creativity, the creating something new and fashionable for example out of second hand or vintage stuff. She also told me that lots of finnish guys know to make their own clothing. Perhaps that is the reason why they have so many finnish designers that make that really kewl finnish designer stuff…

So I wanted to see more of the fashion culture in Finland and I went to vistit Vintage Babushka (the vintage shop I Amalia works at.).

It is really cute…

…and I got mysellf this beautiful vintage dress.

All happy (3 bags full of vintage clothing ; )) and a little bit tired I went eating at Lappi Ravintola (a must if you are in Helsinki!).

(picture: Lappi Ravintola)

(picture: Lappi Ravintola)

It was soo good, though I am a little bit sorry for the cute elks and reindeers…
…but they were yummy ; )
As a dessert I ate some finnish cheese with cloudberry sauce. Sounds strange… but it’s really good.

So you see finnish style is definitely a so called „must have“! Ok, you dont have to be fond of the cheese thing or the reindeer steak ; )…but lets think more about doing stye ourselves. That is what counts if it comes to style itself. Doing what you like and feeling good with it or in it. ; )
My opinion…Finland is definitely one of the most interesting countries in Europe, and it is going to have a deep impact on the international style community…

ur style INTERNATIONAL… helsinki styles… 2nd day: all design

In ur style INTERNATIONAL on 6. August 2010 at 23:15

Hei!
Second day in Helsinki and it is still great…
…today we went shopping in the Design District. Here you can find a lot of shops of new finnish designers. The city guide says it ist not only a place to be it is a „state of mind“… they seem to be right. Because you get easily caught from that state of mind and make it your state of the art ; ) Of course you have art galleries there, also bars and hotels … and most interesting of all design studios and fashion shops..Most kewl are the concept stores, where you can spend hours and you always find something new and stylish too look at and to try on…

…check out some of them…

The Design Forum Finland:

You can find all kind of designer stuff there, of course all made in finland.

For example these kewl hats…

Handmade bags…

And all kinds of home decorations…

If you like designer fashion, sweets and art all at the same time, then you are right at My oh My
They have something for the boys…

and of course the girls…

Real kewl leather bags…

And these gorgeous sunglasses…

Tomorrow i will visit UFF second hand clothing and check out some of the vintage stores here…
so I wish you a good night and greetings to germany!

CU here tomorrow!

ur style INTERNATIONAL… helsinki styles… 1st day: all vintage

In ur style INTERNATIONAL on 5. August 2010 at 21:09

Hei!
Greetings from Helsinki, Finnland!

After a turbulent flight, I landed (thank god in one piece…) at Helsinki airport. After a really good and also affordable fish platter (that I had to fight about with some seagulls…) at the beautiful market place (Kauppatori), I visited the old market hall (Wanha Kauppahalli)…

…and look who I found…

Amalia works at a Vintage Shop in Helsinki, where her beautiful outfit ist from, it is called Vintage Babushka that is located @ Isoroobertinkatu 42.

So I asked her as a local vintage connaisseur for some shopping tips…
…and she told me the names and adresses of the three best vintage stores in Helsinki. (of course Vintage Babushka @ Isoroobertinkatu 42; Hold your horses @Albertinkatu; Ansa @Flemingkatu).

She and her friends also gave me a really kewl city guide that is called 24 hours in Helsinki a real „Nordic Oddity“ ; ). So I am well prepared for power-shopping tomorrow and taking some pictures of the stylish girls n guys of Helsinki…

She also told me that she is going to move to Kopenhagen to study, what ist also a good choice for a fashionista… ; )
So I say thx for the good tipps and good luck in Kopenhagen! Perhaps I go there too one day and we meet again. I heard there were good vintage shops too…

CU all tomorrow…
